Have you ever gone to a meal with several friends and wanted to sit next to a specific person, and in the end you had no choice but to end up sitting at the other end of the table, or even at a different table? When that happens, it makes me mad! =)
Being around a table sharing a meal and a good conversation is something that unites. Not only does it help us to regain energy, but it also allows us to get to know the people who are with us more, and share special moments with them.
After some very intense days, Jesus was with his disciples, having dinner with them. That night he was going to be delivered, and He knew it; That is why he wanted to make good use of those last hours to minister to his friends, and prepare them for what was about to happen.
At one point, Jesus broke bread and gave it to his disciples, and shared the cup with them as well. Her body and his blood were to be given the next day, and this Last Supper reflected the sacrifice he was going to make for them.
But still in the middle of the situation, a flash of light appeared. Jesus said to them: "And I tell you that from now on I will drink no more of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father" (Matthew 26:29).
Dear friend, the day will come when we will eat and drink with Jesus at his table in Heaven! (Revelation 19: 9). Can you imagine it? It will be so glorious! But in the meantime, you have access each day to the feast of his Presence through faith. And don't worry, there is no one who can take your place! =) You can be as close to Him as you want.
